Twilight

I downloaded Twilight and Twilight Saga, New Moon and burned the DVDs. Erica and I watched the first one last night.

Gag me with a spoon.

The story was derivative drivel. The acting was flat bordering on creepy. I did not like, sympathize with, or understand the characters at all.

I will not be watching the next movie.

I don’t understand the eroticism of vampires. I have read Stoker’s Dracula three times and I think it is great. I read Interview with a Vampire, though, and it was just creepy with an unclean kind of kinkiness as a theme. Twilight was just insipid.

I never did see twilight myself (for one thing, the commercials gave me the impression that it was just going to be soft core porn for girls), but I've heard such polarizing reviews for the movie.

Is it as bad as Avatar?

I downloaded and cut the Avatar DVD, loaned it to a friend who thought it was so ordinary that he told me not to bother. I haven’t seen it and don’t intend to.

I liked Moon, but it was a little grim and slow. Still, it was as close to real SF as you are going to find in a movie.

Well as a huge Buffy fan i’m not going to slate the whole vamps can be hot thing but after reading the first twilight book and then banishing all things twilight from the house, I have refused to watch the films. We don’t even have that time of day here any more.

You could actually read the books?!

You must either have some kind of iron stomach or you are an extremely patent, forgiving reader.

I just finished watching an online review of New Moon (twilight's sequel), and the reviewer was just incoherent, babbling, wide-eyed with disbelief as he was describing how HORRIBLE the movie was. -And it’s not as though this is a common reationg for him. This guy was just ‘broken’ by the movie. I can’t imagine having to read 600 some odd pages of Twilight.

How could you Withstand reading it?

The first book was pretty slim and although it was dreadful tripe and honestly I thought i’d die if I had to hear how beautiful edward was one more time, it wasn’t a hard read. I couldn’t bear to watch the film though and even though I knew he wouldn’t I was rooting for James to kill them both in the book.
