Blue is home

Blue came home at 4:30. He’s healthy but very unhappy. The vet gave him his shots. He tested negative for AIDS and Feline Leukemia. The vet says he is a very healthy year and a half year old, but very big for his age.
Blue is hiding under the couch. He hasn’t eaten today, so he’ll be out for food as soon as the drugs wear off.

How would you feel after having that done to you. I bet he’s going to take a big bite out of you or Erica before he’s done healing too!

I’m glad he is OK. How are the other cats treating him?
I’m sure you can guess who this is……

Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a different disease than human aids, but it is just as deadly. It is common around here, along with with Feline Leukemia in cats that go outside.
There is a vaccine that may prevent the disease, but it is associated with high number of cancers around the injection point. We had two cats die in rapid succession from cancers that we think may have been related to the vacination.
Still, it is better to vaccinate than risk FIV. We have the doctors inject the cats in the leg, now. The cat can live without a leg in case of cancer.

    Thanks

I ask because I have 4 cats of my own. Pledges, I’ve had for 14 years has troubles in his mouth area and growls and winces in pain occasionally. We’ve taken him to vets but they think it’s just dental.
