Submitted a story

I submitted a short story today for the first time in a couple of years. It was in my trunk file and I never actually submitted it before because I thought it was a little too cute.

Someone might like it, so I gave it a shot. I don’t think I’ll resubmit it anywhere if it doesn’t sell.

I have had time to work on two stories. One is about a programmer who writes a killer app. Literally a cell phone app that kills people. One I call “Weep Weep” which is a Lovecraft homage about a chimney sweep who has to rescue a child from a chimney in a house of horrors. Both are about 75% done. They are sitting at the point where you scratch your head and ask yourself, how can I gwt from here to there?

Lovecraft’s original “Shunned House” was at the corner of Bridge Street and Elizabeth Avenue in Elizabeth, NJ. I think I may go down and look at the place where it was. My Sweep story uses this historical locale as the setting. Downtown Elizabeth is nothing like it was in the early 19th century setting for my story, but I want to see if there are any 17th century Dutch houses still around there that I can use as a mental model of the house in my story.
