Worldcon

Worldcon is on this week. SF geeks are running around to parties, attending lectures, singing Filk songs (that’s right – at worldcon you don’t sing folk songs, you sing Filk songs) and dressing up like Xena Warrior Princess. Anyone wearing a Star Trek uniform can get lucky.

I wanted to go to Worldcon this year, but then there’s the money.

This year’s World Science Fiction Convention is in Reno Nevada, which sounds like fun. It is a not-so-bad drive from most of the west coast and the airfare is not that bad from everywhere else. There should be a ton of people there.

It costs $220 for the week, which puts it out of my reach, at least this time.

Next year Worldcon will be held in Chicago. At least in Chicago I can go to blues clubs if I get bored. Other people I know have had cash flow issues this year. Maybe next year I can hang out at a sleazy blues cub with J., Tyree, John and Shaun.

Reno Worldcon.
