There are some rumors About A light Higgs boson (AKA the God Particle) that it has been discovered, not at Cern, but at the Tevatron at the  Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Illinois. This what they are calling a a three-sigma effect, which means that it has a high probability of being true. (There is a statistical likelihood that the rumor itself is not true, though.)

If, in fact, the Higgs boson has been detected, it is great that it was done first in the old U.S. of A.

I am happy to say that the universe did not implode when they found it, probably because Americans were in charge.
