Squidoo just sent me money

I have been getting about $10 or so a month on the handful of Squidoo.com lenses that I have written.

A Squidoo lens is a single page article on most anything.

You can add Amazon links, ebay links, Cafe Press, Netflix and you get a good chunk of the advertising from the page.

If you have something to write about (even a short story) and a few minutes to build a lens on Squidoo, you can possibly make a little money.

My big money makers are the article I wrote on 13 Great Ghost Movies and another one on How to be a Harmonica Superstar. These have good links to items for sale in Amazon and they each make $5 a month, more or less. I am going to write a few more movie lenses because they seem to make money. If you see a movie, even an old one, make sure that you review it in a lens. I have many articles buried in my harmonica pages that don’t get many hits anymore, but would make good lenses. Harmonica stuff always makes money.

Of course, the article on writing Science Fiction makes just a few pennies – there ain’t no money in spec-fic.

The secret, though, is to write a bunch of these. I am thinking of rewriting a bunch of my longer blog entries as lenses. I might try a short story or two. There is a synergistic effect as you create more lenses. I notice that if people like the one lens they’ll click on another on your list.

$10 here, $10 there – sooner or later it’s got to add up.
