Overweight is the new Thin

According to the NY Times Article (link above), thin and obese people have the highest death rate where the lowest death rate is what most people call overweight. I don’t like the extra pounds that I have put on over the years, but my BMI is in the middle of the range that had the lowest death rate.

“I believe the data,” said Dr. Elizabeth Barrett-Connor, a professor of family and preventive medicine at the University of California, San Diego. “A body mass index of 25 to 30, the so-called overweight range, may be optimal,” she said.

I always knew that those smug thin people were way off base. First, they don’t get to enjoy life and good food and drink; second, they don’t live as long. No pain no gain my ass!

I think I’ll go downstairs and get a jelly donut and cup of coffee while I wait for my posting problems to clear up.

(I am writing this at 10 or so on Thursday, but my server is rejecting the FTP link. I called customer service and they are aware of the problem. It figures that the same day the Jim expresses concern about my lack of blog entries and I have a couple of decent things to blog, that the system won’t let me do anything.)
11pm The system just came up.
