End of the Regular Baseball Season

The regular Baseball season is over and My Magic Number sites went from a peak of 10,000 hits a day down to around 50 hits over night.

I am not a sports guy, but if you read this blog, you might remember that about three years ago I started the Mets Magic Number page. I extended that to all the MLB teams later. The way it came about was that the poker guys were talking baseball and they started to ague over the Magic Number and how it was calculated. It is basically the number of games a team must win or the leading team must loose in order to get a division playoff spot. This is a math problem and I worked out the math, found a data source and created my web pages.

The magic number pages are fairly successful. This year I made about $150 in Google ads and about $100 in Commission Junction affiliate ads (eBay). I wanted to get rich, but the site is only growing at about 20% a year so it will be a while before I can retire on the proceeds.

Still, $250 is something. If I get 100 more ideas that make $250 each, I might be able to retire eventually.
