quechup.com working through spec-fic community

Quechup is a social site where you sign up and meet and make friends. It’s like a FaceBook or MySpace. One thing they do is ask if they can automatically match you with friends when you sign up. If you have gmail, yahoo mail, hotmail or several other web based emails they get your password and then take ALL the addresses in your address book and send spammy invites to those people. It is in the fine print of their aggreement that they can do this, but nobody reads this.

Spam is a bad thing. Just because you believe you think that you have found a legal loophole does not make spamming OK.

I have received five invites over the last few days on different emails, three from the same person (I will not mention names). I have seen the complaints (and apologies) on all four boards where I lurk.

Do not respond! Quechup is using scummy spammer practices and thinks this is OK because they “got your permission” by hiding the practice in a maze of fine print. Bad manners are bad manners – there are no loopholes.
