Swinburne Astronomy Online

I was thinking, recently, that I miss going to school at night. My degree in Math and all of my graduate school work was at night. I also taught at local colleges for nearly twenty years at night. Now, I just vegetate in front of the TV.

Graduate classes around here cost about $1,000 per credit, so I started looking into distance learning, which is about half that.

I stumbled onto this Australian site: Swinburne Astronomy Online . It is a Master’s course in astronomy. It costs about $800 per unit and you need 12 units. It is “non-technical”, which means limited math (disappointing). It is sort of an astronomy management course. It is fully accredited by the Australian Government and it’s credits transfer to US schools. Just the thing for an aspiring SF writer!

There is a mini-course starting June 19. This costs $250 AUD – about $205 US. I am thinking of signing up for it for fun. It is too much money for just a lark, but I am very interested.
