Sunday Afternoon

I walked around Rockland Lake.

In the parking lot I found this thing. It’s a kind of key made of pot metal with a gold paint on on it. It looks almost like the symbols on it are from kind of strange cult, but they are not distinct enough to really mean anything.

The entrance to the lake was full of people. It was a brisk day, around 55 degrees with a bit of a wind, but still very nice.

There was a fisherman on the lake. I didn’t think that fishing season had opened, yet.

The swan was a-sitting.

Skip says that squirrels are rats with good press, but this was a nice jolly fat fellow who posed for me.

The west side of the lake was very crowded as I approached the boat house. Lots of people walk here, but don’t make it too far from their cars.

The Skunk cabbage is always the first wild plant to really sprout up in the spring. They get their name because they stink if you break the leaves. Not like a skunk though, just generally super cabbagy stink.

There was another swan’s nest that I had not seen before.

This is an old gander swimming near the nest. I guess that he’s the proud pappa to be.

I went over to my Mother’s house. This is a picture of her bulbs. Very nice.

Larry turned the garden by hand.

Larry and Mom – american gothic.

Here is one of the Central Nyack Swan’s that showed up to chat. The Swan’s are one of Central Nyack’s most important families and I went to school with a good half dozen of the cousin’s. I can’t remember his name, except I think that he’s Everett’s uncle? I alway’s called him Mr. Swan.
