Book Reviews
I’ve been doing book reviews for a while, which I kept for a while in a series of files.
I am going to start moving these to this page. The earliest reviews are from 2005 and are reviews of books on tape. I didn’t often review the books on tape that I listened to as I commuted to work. I will add one or two a day as I find time.
There is also a book review link at the top of the page that goes to the reviews that I did separately. I did several dozen reviews there, but I was partially doing them to test some blogging software that I wrote. I abandoned that project in favor of WordPress last year and stopped doing the reviews. I will start up again now.

Hi,
Just read your ten rules for writing SciFi. I might have nailed 9 out of 10 of your points – a little crookedly, but still;-)
Do you still review books, and would you take a look at BIRDIE DOWN? It’s a free-to-read at Smashwords: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/134591
The blurb:
The Outer-Rim rebellion stumbles into its second day – and in the wrong direction. Can it survive a third?
The third generation residents of the resource-rich New Worlds are seeking to throw off the yolk of corporate rule. Ex-Resource War veteran, Sebastian Scatkiewicz and his colleague, Andrew ‘Birdie’ Goosen, have dared to take on the biggest company of them all. Hot from attacking the Lynthax Corporation head offices on Trevon and then on G-eo they’re planning to attack a third. But there’s friction in the rebel camp. Scat’s ignoring the advice of colleagues. His personal beef with Jack Petroff, Lynthax’s head of security, is affecting his judgement; his friends and political masters are doubting his motives; and the loyalty of the newest recruits is far from certain…
The first in a break-out series, based on the Smashwords novel ‘Scat’.
Kind regards
Jim Graham
Jim,
Great name. My grand uncle was named James Graham. I am trying to trace the genealogy of my Grahams. James was supposed to have moved to Campbell Hall, NY. Any info? I am descended through James’ brother Peter Graham born about 1880, whose father was Jacob who may have come from Scotland or Ireland around 1860. Very little information there, so I ask every Graham that I meet, but there are a lot of Grahams.
I have downloaded the book and it is my Kindle. I will check it out when I finish what I’m reading. If I find that I have enough nice things to say about it, I will put up a review.
Thanks,
Keith P. Graham
I wonder what you think of “Stranger in a Strange Land” by Robert Heinlein”, or, for that matter his general “future history series”. Also, of anything fictional by Isaac Asimov,
I read Heinlein over and over. I have many copies of his books, some autographed. I have them on tape and now I am buying them for my Kindle. I like the Juveniles and early novels best. My favorite is “Door Into Summer”.
I have read all of Asimov. My favorite, I think, is Second Foundation – the best of the foundation books. The later foundation sequels were not very good. I liked all of his early stuff and the Robot Stories.
