The beach glass machine

Sea Glass is not as easy to find as it once was. There was a time when a bunch of high school kids could get drunk and toss the beer bottles in the surf and a few weeks later there would be beach glass. Now cheap beer is more likely to be in cans and High School kids can’t buy beer as easily.

Beach glass is a foggy smooth glass. It is usually brown (the most common beer bottle), but it can also be Heineken green or clear. Very rarely it is blue. Blue beach glass is the holy grail of beach glass, and comes from blue milk of magnesia bottles (which are now plastic).

The link below is by a guy who is making his own beach glass for a pathway out of sea glass. He uses a cement mixer, water, sand, and glass to make the stuff, and it works well for him.

I’d like to find a source of blue glass and make my own blue beach glass. I could make nice beach glass pathways in my yard. If I felt like it I’d go to Cape Cod and seed the beaches with it, so that small children could find the rare blue stuff and not just brown or green.
