A Programming Language for Genetic Engineering of Living Cells – Microsoft Research

I have spent the large part of my life learning and using programming languages. Programming is not just what I do, it is who I am. When I read something like this research project at Microsoft I want to get involved. I have been thinking about DNA sequences as programming elements for 30 years and I have looked into it from time to time. I once downloaded a virus DNA sequence and ran a program on it (similar to ZIP) which identify commonly occurring strings of various lengths in an attempt to identify MACRO elements that could be arranged as part of a language.

I hope that this project results in lots of documentation and perhaps a way for the public to participate. I would really enjoy hacking DNA.
