My Laptop is Moaning

The Toshiba Qosmio that Justine found in the closet of lost technology is dying. It is sitting on my lap now as I type and making horrible moaning noises. I am guessing that the fan is clogged with cat hair. The laptop is hot and burns my legs.

I don’t have good luck with taking these things apart or I would try to clear out the cat hair.

I have a feeling that I will be looking for a new machine real soon.

You could hire someone from your family to clean it out for you. If you don’t know anyone, you could always pay a highschool or collage kid 20 dollors to get if fixed or walk you threw it.

Do you realize how many computers that I have given you get blown up? I’m a real spaz and I don’t break nearly as many!

I USE mine to death. The keyboard letters are wearing off. The ‘A’ and the ‘S’ are just blank keys now, and there is a crater cut in the space bar from where my thumbnail hits it.

The cats think it is fun to knock the laptop onto the floor when I ignore them, so the thing has stood up to some real abuse. The DVD/CD doesn’t eject without help anymore and the wifi switch mysteriously turns itself off. I am on my third power supply. Other than that and the moaning, it is a great little machine, even if it is very heavy for a laptop.

The best of them all was the little Toshiba Tough Book (Chinese Let’s Note). I changed the key caps into English and installed a driver so it behaved like it was not born in China, but after I replaced the failed hard drive I started using the Qosmio. I can’t find the little guy now. I might be in the blue truck, but I’ve looked in all the obvious places. I have the old Dell Latitude in my bag. I bought a new battery for it so I can use it on the bus. It has only 512M ram and runs very slowly, but that’s pretty good since it is almost 10 years old. I am going to take the Symantec antivirus off, since that takes so much memory and slows it down. I will use the Microsoft Security Essentials, which is not as good, but it doesn’t slow the machine and it’s free.

The moaning has stopped and the thing is running cool again, so either the cat hair cleared out of the fan or it is going to explode any second now.
