February 2nd, 2010 Package bees for sale NY, NJ, CT When you search for “package bees for sale”, this blog, where I write mostly about science fiction, comes out #2 on Google. That means that I have the lock on the phrase. I happen to get lots of hits on this so I’ll do a little referring here. I am buying my bees this year from: Adam Fuller of AZ Apiaries. We are all meeting at the Palisades Mall at 3AM on March 25th to meet a truck. So if you are in Rockland County, NY, Northern New Jersey, Southern CT or Lower Hudson Valley, this would be a nice party to attend, sing songs, drink wine, and get 3 pound packages of Golden Italian Bees. The guy will be coming around twice more in April. Last year I ordered bees from Betterbee.com up in Greenwich, NY, but they changed the date to one that I could not make and I had to back out. (cost me money, too). I got my  bees from HiveDepot.com in Rhode Island, and it was a very good deal, but this year the owner is not answering his email. permanent link trackback 9 Comments »

   I might be ordering a Nuc at about $106 for April delivery. This might be your best bet. It depends on whether or not my weak hive dies. Ask http://azapiaries.com about the April date. Nucs are great and have a much better chance of growing.

   http://www.beesource.com/ has a section where I’ve seen packages for sale.

   Ebay has package deliveries by UPS express overnight.

   http://www.AZApiaries.com has a delivery date that is not yet sold out and they may have nucs, which I think are better than packages and worth the slight extra cost.

   It’s too late now, but you can still get packages for late May.
