As an anniversary present, Erica bought me Through Space to Mars from 1910 by Roy Rockwood. It is the story of boys who build a rocket in their garage and pilot it to Mars. Before there was Science Fiction there were boys books.
Roy Rockwood was the house pseudonym at Cupples & Leon publishers for its boys books. This book was written by Howard Roger Garis, best known for the Uncle Wiggly Longears books. He wrote many of the original Tom Swift books under the name Victor Appleton, and many of the Bobsey Twins books.
It is a great present and I will be reading it soon. I only had to buy her expensive jewels. I got the better of the deal.

This August 19th is my 30th aniversary of a 26 year old e. Jim Shannon leaving New Westminster BC for Edmonton. That date is my brother Mike & Doris's 30th. Coming up next week, August 21st is my 56th. Hard to believe huh?
Btw, have you been over to SF Signal lately? It seems they have done a revamp of their website and have stretched the band width all to crap. From a technical pov, I'm asking you…what's going on there?

SFSignal has had a lot of posts and they display a week’s worth on the page. It has grown very long and since the average reader refuses to scroll down more than a few inches, all it is doing is clogging bandwidth. Having so many video posts also slows things down. I try to limit the video to a once in a blue moon or a direct link on my blogs.
They made the site worse.
