J. Erwine and Larry Niven

J. Erwine found some pictures of himself at the panel with famous SF writer Larry Niven.

The pictures of J. came out well. This must have been cool, sharing a discussion on What makes SF work? Characters, Society, or Technology? Way to go!

Check out the pictures on J’s Blog.

It’s weird, but I follow the blogs of a dozen or so people and after a couple of years, you feel like you know them all, even though you’ve never met any of them. If J walked into poker in Nyack, I’d probably just ask, "Did you bring any music?"

Thanks for linking. It was definitely a good time.

As far as the music, I might have to really dig to find something to your tastes…

“There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind.” Duke Ellington.

We listen to blues, rock, classical (La Boheme the other night), Jazz, Soul, Metal, Punk, even rap once. We listen to the soundtrack of The Third Man once a month and Jim has a Kings of the Surfer Guitar tape he plays. I did not care for my friend John’s 13th Floor Elevators CD, but I found something worthwhile in most everything else. I am still a little miffed that my Schooner Fair (extreme folk) tapes were nixed after just one song, but you have to compromise.
My preference is to blues rock and early hard rock like Led Zep and Hendrix. I also like extremes like Captain Beefheart and Mothers of Invention and it is always a good night when we put on a Tom Waits record.
