Wanderings

the whole history of mankind is nothing but science fiction.

Justine’s Bird House

Justine sent a birdhouse from Martha’s Vineyard. It’s a Claire Murray design – hoity-toity.

I screwed a 1/2 inch steel pipe flange on the bottom with an 8" nipple. I used a 10 foot 3/4 inch electrical conduit as a post. The conduit is galvanized and should last 20 years.

Why is it so high up? is that to keep the non-bird critters out?

The pole is 10 foot, but I have it banged in the ground around two feet so the house is about 8 feet off the ground. This is what birds like. It keeps the raccoons out and it still is low enough for me to take it down and clean it out once a year.
