I am not sure that studying writing makes you a better writer. My personal stumbling block is sentence structure. Too many years as a programmer tends has taught me to write programs, not paragraphs, so my sentence structure is often algorithmic rather than poetic. (She did something and said something therefore something else is true.) I don’t think anything is going to change the way I think about structure.
There is an old saying that you can’t talk someone out of something that they haven’t been talked into.
