What a sweet pic. How is Gracie doing? Did she lose her eyesight in her one eye? Happy New Year and thanks for all the Gracie updates. Lee K.

Gracie is well. I'll get another picture of the hellion when I get a chance. Her eye reacts to light and both pupils are very nearly the same size. She doesn't seem to focus correctly.
I am guessing that she see's light and dark and that she is slowly recovering. A damaged optical nerve, if it does come back, might take months. I haven't been counting but it's been about 4 months.
Gracie has emerged from her bat-out-of-hell kitten stage and seems to be much more social. She sits with me sometimes watching TV and sleeps curled up against me or Erica at night.
Her morning routine is to wait until I get into the tub for my morning soak, try to steal my coffee and then drink deep of "people soup" (bathwater) before I start using the soap. She then sits on the lip of the bathtub, enjoying the high humidity, and listening to the radio with me, until I have to get up and get ready for work.
About baths, I agree with Winston Churchill. Why do something standing up when you can do it much more comfortably lying down? A long hot soaker is how I start my day.
When I built my house, I routed the second floor heating pipes around, through, and under the bathtub. There is finned radiator piping in the walls of the tub. The tub is too hot to touch when I turn on the water in the morning and stays hot as long as the heat is on. Often I will find a cat in the tub basking in the sinfully warm radiating heat. You can almost hear the cat fat sizzling.

Thanks again for the update. "Cat Fat Sizzling" sounds like the title to an excellent story. ~lk
